tRNA Modifications: Impact on Structure and Thermal Adaptation [PDF]

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2017
Transfer RNAs (tRNAs) are central players in translation, functioning as adapter molecules between the informational level of nucleic acids and the functional level of proteins. They show a highly conserved secondary and tertiary structure and the highest density of post-transcriptional modifications among all RNAs.

Thermal Equilibrium of String Gas in Hagedorn Universe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The thermal equilibrium of string gas is necessary to activate the Brandenberger-Vafa mechanism, which makes our observed 4-dimensional universe enlarge.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Measuring radial flow of partonic and hadronic phases in relativistic heavy ion collision

open access: yes, 2009
It has been shown that the thermal photon and the lepton pair spectra can be used to estimate the radial velocity of different phases of the matter formed in nuclear collisions at ultra-relativistic energies.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

The effect of thermal modification of turbostratic carbon on its fractal structure

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла
Fractal structure of porous carbon materials (PCMs) obtained by thermal modification under different regimes was investigated using the method of low-temperature porometry.

Heat exchanger tubes supported in high vibration environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Cantilevered structure supports heat exchanger coils against vibration loading while allowing freedom for differential thermal growth. The support channels will accept a variety of coil angles with the same coil pitch, thus reducing the number of parts ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Innovations in designing microwave electro-technological units with hybrid chambers

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2023
Aim of study: Microwave (MW) electro-technological units based on electromagnetic radiation of ultrahigh-frequency can involve thermal MW modification of dielectrics and non-thermal MW modification of polymers.

Is the mean-field approximation so bad? A simple generalization yelding realistic critical indices for 3D Ising-class systems

open access: yes, 2002
Modification of the renormalization-group approach, invoking Stratonovich transformation at each step, is proposed to describe phase transitions in 3D Ising-class systems. The proposed method is closely related to the mean-field approximation.
