Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Microstructural aspects of thermally modified Eucalyptus grandis wood

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2015
Thermal modification of wood is a process that has drawn considerable attention of Brazilian researchers, but studies about the effect of this process on wood anatomy are scarce, even in the worldwide literature.

Enhanced magnetic and thermoelectric properties in epitaxial polycrystalline SrRuO3 thin film

open access: yes, 2018
Transition metal oxide thin films show versatile electrical, magnetic, and thermal properties which can be tailored by deliberately introducing macroscopic grain boundaries via polycrystalline solids.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Physicochemical properties of Pinus massoniana wood subjected to silicone oil heat treatment

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2019
In this Study, Pinus massoniana wood was heat treated with silicone oil to modify the chemical composition relative to the unmodified wood. Specifically, polysaccharide, lignin, extractives and ash contents were the properties investigated.

The lower bound violation of shear viscosity to entropy ratio due to logarithmic correction in STU model

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we analyze the effects of thermal fluctuations on a STU black hole. We observe that these thermal fluctuations can affect the stability of a STU black hole.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Effect of heat treatments on the strength and stiffness of poplar

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología
The influence of environmental conditions on wood material properties is known. Temperature is one of them and its effect on poplar wood has been examined in a limited way which this study tried to figure out this issue in a limited context.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
