Myocardial Immune Niches in Homeostasis and Inflammation

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 340, Issue 1, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The heart functions as a circulatory pump that supplies blood throughout the body. The execution of this critical function depends on the interplay between cardiomyocytes and the supportive cellular infrastructure, generated by endothelial cells, fibroblasts and distinct immune cell populations.

Unravelling the Genetic Mechanisms of Litter Traits in a Maternal Line of Pigs

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 4, Page 560-580, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Reproductive traits related to litter size are the main indicators of reproductive efficiency in pig production and are continuously evaluated for the selection of maternal lines. Several environmental and genetic factors are involved with the development of these traits.

Maternal Obesity and MicroRNAs in Breast Milk: Implications for Infant Developmental Programming

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This review explores the relationship between maternal obesity and alterations in the expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) in breast milk, highlighting how these changes may influence the developmental programming of the infant. Evidence suggests that maternal obesity can affect the bioactive composition of breast milk, including miRNA profiles ...

Role of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) and systemic resveratrol on immediate implant placement in type 2 diabetic rats

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, Volume 102, Issue 4, Page 934-948, July/August 2026.
This study evaluated the combined effects of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) and systemic resveratrol on bone repair around immediately placed implants in type 2 diabetic rats. Resveratrol improved glycemic control and body weight, while aPDT increased implant stability and bone mineralization.
