Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

A nested sequence of projectors and corresponding braid matrices $\hat R(\theta)$: (1) Odd dimensions

open access: yes, 2004
A basis of $N^2$ projectors, each an ${N^2}\times{N^2}$ matrix with constant elements, is implemented to construct a class of braid matrices $\hat{R}(\theta)$, $\theta$ being the spectral parameter. Only odd values of $N$ are considered here.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Conformally Invariant Fractals and Potential Theory

open access: yes, 1999
The multifractal (MF) distribution of the electrostatic potential near any conformally invariant fractal boundary, like a critical O(N) loop or a $Q$ -state Potts cluster, is solved in two dimensions.

Refinements to Mumford’s theta and adelic theta groups [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales mathématiques du Québec, 2014
Let $X$ be an abelian variety defined over an algebraically closed field $k$. We consider theta groups associated to \emph{simple semi-homogenous vector bundles of separable type} on $X$. We determine the structure and representation theory of these groups. In doing so we relate work of Mumford, Mukai, and Umemura.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Experimental search for radiative decays of the pentaquark baryon \Theta^+(1540)

open access: yes, 2009
The data on the reactions K^+Xe --> K^0 \gamma X and K^+Xe --> K^+ \gamma X, obtained with the bubble chamber DIANA, have been analyzed for possible radiative decays of the \Theta^+(1540) baryon: \Theta^+ --> K^0 p \gamma and \Theta^+ --> K^+ n \gamma ...

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Scaling behaviour of the critical current in clean epitaxial Ba(Fe1-xCox)2As2 thin films

open access: yes, 2010
The angular-dependent critical current density, Jc(theta), and the upper critical field, Hc2(theta), of epitaxial Ba(Fe1-xCox)2As2 thin films have been investigated.

The Dynamics of the Theta Method [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Scientific and Statistical Computing, 1991
In the dymanics of numerical methods for nonlinear differential equations there is a growing interest in specifying procedures that avoid the introduction of spurious solutions by time discretization [see \textit{A. Iserles} and the authors, SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 28, No. 6, 1723-1751 (1991)].
