Examining strategies to facilitate vitamin B1 biofortification of plants by genetic engineering
Thiamin (vitamin B1) is made by plants and microorganisms but is an essential micronutrient in the human diet. All organisms require it as a cofactor in its form as thiamin pyrophosphate (TPP) for the activity of key enzymes of central metabolism.

This study aimed to investigate the potential of a mannan‐rich fraction (MRF) as a dietary intervention to alleviate weaning stress in piglets. Our results revealed that MRF could alleviate weaning stress by modulating the gut microbiota and the TLR5/NF‐κB signaling pathway, offering a novel and sustainable alternative to antibiotic use in swine ...

ABSTRACT Persistence of HCPs remains a major purification challenge in biopharmaceutical manufacturing with direct consequences for product quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. Over the last two decades, deeper insights into the mechanisms driving HCP persistence have clarified why certain proteins evade removal during purification ...

ABSTRACT Single‐stranded DNA (ssDNA) solutions are promising innovations shaping the future of genetic research and medical therapies. In principle, biotechnological mass production of ssDNA can be achieved using Escherichia coli in a high‐cell density fed‐batch process by secreting phagemid particles derived from the filamentous M13 bacteriophages ...

Effect of the cigarette smoke component, 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK), on physiological and molecular parameters of thiamin uptake by pancreatic acinar cells. [PDF]
Thiamin is indispensable for the normal function of pancreatic acinar cells. These cells take up thiamin via specific carrier-mediated process that involves thiamin transporter-1 and -2 (THTR-1 and THTR-2; products of SLC19A2 and SLC19A3 genes ...

Scalable catalyst production process for oleate hydratase whole‐cell biocatalysis
This study establishes a scalable lactose‐induced fed‐batch fermentation for an Escherichia coli whole‐cell biocatalyst containing an oleate hydratase. Operation at a higher growth rate markedly increased biomass yields while maintaining catalyst activity and was demonstrated at 150 L scale.

A set of new phosphonomethyl (thio)phosphonamidite reagents is introduced to generate unprecedented pyrophosphate mimetics. The versatile P(III)‐P(V) reagents allow for the construction of various pyrophosphate isosteres, and the applicability of the chemistry is illustrated in the assembly of a diverse set of stabilized CDP‐glycerol and CDP‐ribitol ...
