Thiamine-quinone adducts. Colorimetric determination of thiamine

Experientia, 1977
2, 3-dichloro-1,4-naphtoquinone reacts with thiamine in the presence of NH3 to give a 1∶2 adduct, for which structureII is proposed on the basis of analytical and spectroscopic (IR) data. Such a reaction is very useful for thiamine quantitative determination.

Thiamine diphosphatase in thiamine deficiency

Experientia, 1962

Biochemistry of Thiamine and Thiamine Phosphate Compounds

2013
Thiamine (vitamin B1) is an essential molecule for all living organisms. It is the precursor for several phosphorylated derivatives, the most important being the coenzyme thiamine diphosphate (ThDP). Thiamine is transported into cells by specific transporters and pyrophosphorylated to ThDP in the cytosol.

Thiamin

2018
Starting with a brief history of beriberi and the discovery that thiamin deficiency is its cause, the symptoms and signs are reviewed. None are pathognomonic. The disease has a low mortality and a long morbidity. The appearance of the patient can be deceptive, often being mistaken for psychosomatic disease in the early stages.
