Facet‐Engineered S‐Scheme Heterostructure With Enhanced Active Sites for Efficient Photocatalytic Degradation of Organic Contaminants

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 33, 23 April 2026.
The facet‐engineered ZnO/Zn3In2S6 heterostructure, dominated by {001} plane coupling, exposes abundant unsaturated Zn sites with elongated Zn─O bonds, directing photoexcited charge carriers along an S‐scheme pathway and suppressing recombination. Enhanced interfacial Zn adsorption toward bisphenol A and methylene blue further synergistically promotes ...

Europium‐Modified Urea‐Assisted TiO2 Nanoparticles as Multifunctional Materials for Natural Sunlight‐Driven Photocatalysis, Antimicrobial Defense, and Anticancer Activity

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
This work reports, for the first time, the synergistic integration of urea‐assisted surface engineering and europium ion doping in TiO2 to achieve efficient sunlight‐driven degradation of structurally diverse azo and non‐azo dyes, coupled with enhanced antibacterial activity, supported by mechanistic validation through scavenger and GC–MS analyses ...

Copper‐ and Silver‐Catalyzed Reactions of Active Methylene Isocyanides: Facile Access to Highly Substituted Five‐ and Six‐Membered Heterocycles

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 13, 1 April 2026.
This review summarizes recent advances in copper‐ and silver‐catalyzed reactions of active methylene isocyanides for the synthesis of highly substituted five‐ and six‐membered heterocycles. Emphasis is placed on [3+n] cycloadditions, annulations, and asymmetric strategies, highlighting current limitations and future opportunities in heterocycle ...

Solvothermal Fabrication of Trimetallic Oxides NCs: Exploring Their Magnetic and Photocatalytic Characteristics

open access: yesNano Select, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
A trimetallic NiFe2O4/ZnO/Co3O4 nanocomposite is synthesized via a solvothermal route and thermally tuned by post‐annealing. Structural, optical, and magnetic properties evolve systematically with temperature, enabling efficient sunlight‐driven degradation of mixed organic dyes.

Synthesis of Polysubstituted Tetrahydro‐1,4‐Thiazepines by Rhodium‐Catalyzed Ring Expansion of Dihydro‐1,3‐Thiazines with Diazoesters

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 2, January 2026.
A rhodium(II)‐catalyzed ring expansion of stereodefined dihydro‐1,3‐thiazines with diazomalonates gives 1,4‐thiazepines via a sulfonium ylide rearrangement. The reaction shows a cis/trans reactivity divergence arising from different metal coordination, as revealed by experiments and density functional theory studies.

Quartzite Waste–Based Composite: An Environmental and Renewable Material for the Adsorptive Removal of Industrial Dyes

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
A carbon‐supported quartzite powder waste composite was evaluated as a sustainable and low‐cost adsorbent for the removal of the cationic dye Methylene Blue (MB) and the anionic dye Reactive Black 5 (RB5). The valorization of quartzite waste as a silica source represents an environmentally attractive strategy to mitigate disposal impacts while enabling

OPN‐Derived Peptides Generated by Proteasomes Can Promote Cell Migration via CD44 Activation

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Osteopontin (OPN) is a pleiotropic cytokine that is overexpressed in many autoimmune diseases and solid cancers. Here we show that the 20S proteasome can degrade, in vitro, both the full‐length OPN and the OPN‐C fragment generated in the extracellular space and produce both canonical and spliced peptides.

Visible‐Light Photocatalyzed Selective Synthesis of 1,2‐ or 1,3‐Dithianes From Thietanes: An Experimental and Theoretical Study

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 367, Issue 24, December 22, 2025.
Although this article formally presents a regioselective photochemical ring enlargement of thietanes into 1,2‐ or 1,3‐dithianes, time‐dependent density functional theory calculations have revealed that 1,3‐dithianes are in fact formed thought photoinduced hydrogen atom transfers from 1,2‐dithianes initially resulting from the ring enlargement using ...
