Effect of Thick–Hard Main Roof Fracturing on the Spatiotemporal Evolution of Overburden Fractures

Gas gushing and the co-mining of coal and gas outbursts are common disasters in coal mines. The weakening of thick–hard main roof fracturing can effectively alleviate the gas overrun in the initial mining stage.

ABSTRACT In 2019, the Dadan Archaeological Project (CNRS/RCU/AFALULA) identified a Late Antique village 1 km south of ancient Dadan in the al‐ʿUlā valley (northwest Saudi Arabia). Three excavation seasons at this site (2021–2023) have uncovered a massive building constructed in the late third or early fourth cent.

Mechanisms of Thick-Hard Roof and Thin Aquifer Zone Floor Destruction and the Evolution Law of Water Inrush

The collapse of thick-hard roofs after coal has been extracted is not a consequential process in all cases. Rather, it happens due to the augmentation of high stress conducted at depth, followed by a wider range of damage as the floor cracks.

Rock bursts induced by thick-hard roof with compound key strata: Mechanisms and technical modes for prevention

Objective Thick-hard roofs serve as the key factor inducing disasters such as rock bursts and mining-induced earthquakes in coal mines. These disasters are especially serious in the case of coal seam roofs with compound key strata.
