Pore‐Scale Flow Dynamics Control Capillary Pressure‐Saturation‐Interfacial Area Relations in Multiphase Porous Media

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Capillary pressure–saturation relationships are central to modeling multiphase flow in porous media, yet conventional formulations often neglect how pore‐scale flow organization and interfacial geometry evolve during displacement. Here, we investigate curvature‐derived capillary pressure during immiscible two‐phase displacement using ...

Proxies for success: Targeted hazing reduces wildlife use of runway‐adjacent areas and management effort at an airport

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 8, August 2026.
Sustained non‐lethal hazing was associated with reduced wildlife use of runway‐adjacent critical areas while overall wildlife numbers remained stable. Bayesian models of operational hazing records showed that the proportion of individuals in critical areas declined, lower hazing escalation was required over time, and pre‐ and post‐hazing response ...

Study on the fracture characteristics of thick-hard limestone roof and its controlling technique

Environmental Earth Sciences, 2017
The Taiyuan group is one of the coal-bearing formations in Shanxi Province, in which coal resource is extremely abundant. No.15 coal seam is the main minable coal seam in Taiyuan group, and it develops with thick-hard limestone roof which is a threat to safe and efficient mining because of the roof failure.
