Generalized Theory for Bending of Thick Plates

Transactions of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering, 1990
Several refined theories of plates have been developed in the recent decade. All such theories have attempted to incorporate the effects of transverse shear stresses and transverse normal stress and strain which become important as the ratio of the plate thickness to characteristic length (h/L) increases.

Refined Theory for Thick Composite Plates

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1988
A refined theory for the bending of composite plates is developed, based on an assumed variation of the shear stresses through the thickness. The influence of transverse normal strain, transverse normal stress, and shear deformation is accounted for in the formulation. The development yields a bending‐extension coupling, yielding a tenth‐order boundary

Thick plate bending analysis using a single variable simple plate theory

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2022
Abstract A third order single variable simple plate theory has been used for the bending deflection analysis of thick plates with simply supported edges. The plate theory used herein contains third order terms in the displacement field. The displacement field of the theory utilizes only one unknown displacement variable for the complete formulation ...
