A new generalized binomial thinning-based INAR(1) process with Poisson–Lindley innovations

open access: yesStatistical Theory and Related Fields
This paper considers a new parameterization of the generalized binomial thinning operator that is to be incorporated in a simple ordered integer-valued autoregressive process (INAR(1)) with the Poisson–Lindley innovations.

Multiparametric MRI to distinguish early onset Alzheimer's disease and behavioural variant of frontotemporal dementia

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2017
This prospective study explored whether an approach combining structural [cortical thickness and white matter (WM) microstructure] and resting state functional MRI can aid differentiation between 62 early onset Alzheimer's disease (EOAD) and 27 ...

Autonomous Mechanical Thinning Using Scanning LIDAR

open access: yes, 2018
Hand thinning is a labor-intensive and expensive peach production practice. Mechanical thinning has been shown to be an economical method of reducing thinning cost.

Density Measurement of Irradiated and Nonirradiated Zirconium Oxide by Ptychographic X‐Ray Computed Tomography (PXCT)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mass density governs the protective behavior of oxide layers on nuclear fuel cladding. Ptychographic X‐ray computed tomography measures zirconium oxide grown on Zircaloy‐4 under reactor and autoclave conditions, revealing nearly identical bulk densities of 5.1 ± 0.80 g cm−3.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

DC operated thin filmelectroluminescent device

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1995
An improved version of a DC operated thin film electroluminescent device is proposed, which relies heavily on the nature of trapping states in a p--Si/ZnS:Mn heterodiode. Such a junction facilitates charge leakage from the inversion region of the silicon when films of ZnS are grown by sputtering in a sulphur-reduced environment.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Influence of spacing and thinning on wood properties in conifer plantations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
As reported in four appended papers (I-IV), effects of genotype (half-sib family) and initial spacing (I) or initial spacing (II) and various thinning methods (III & IV) on stands and properties of sawn-products were investigated in Scots pine (I & IV ...

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

Influence of Forestry Practices Cost on Financial Performance of Forestry Investments

open access: yesResources, 2019
Understanding forestry practices cost is important for predicting the financial outcome of forest management activities. Assessing costs of practices that will be used in the future can be difficult and may result in over or underestimations of financial
