The Evaluation of Thiol/Disulfide Homeostasis in Diabetic Nephropathy [PDF]

open access: yesEndocrinology Research and Practice, 2018
Abstract Thiol/disulfide homeostasis plays a critical role in antioxidant defense, detoxification, apoptosis, enzyme activities, transcription and cellular signal transduction. It is known that thiol levels decrease due to thiol oxidation, disulfide levels increase and thiol/disulfide ratio increase in diabetics.

The Protective Impact of Aqueous Ginger Extract on Oxidative Stress and Inflammation of the Male Rats’ Lungs Exposed to Cigarette Smoke

open access: yesScientifica, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Smoking is a main contributor to lung pathogenesis, inflammation, oxidative stress and structural changes. This study aimed to investigate the impact of cigarette smoke on lung tissue and to explore the potential benefit of ginger extracts in rats. Four groups of male rats were employed to achieve this goal.

Nucleoredoxin 1 in Wheat: Genomic Analysis and Demonstration of Its Role in Redox Homeostasis and Stress Resilience

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 9, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Nucleoredoxin 1 (NRX1), a member of the redoxin superfamily, plays a critical role in maintaining redox homeostasis and enhancing stress tolerance in plants. We employed integrated in silico analyses and CRISPR‐Cas9‐based genome editing to functionally characterize NRX1 in Triticum aestivum (wheat) responding to salinity and infection by ...
