Removal of thiophene sulfur model compound for coal by microwave with peroxyacetic acid
, 2020Thiophene sulfur removal from coal by microwave with peroxyacetic acid was explored in this paper. To simplify the reaction system, dibenzothiophene was selected as the model compound for the thiophene sulfur in coal.

Double photoionization of thiophene and bromine-substituted thiophenes
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2008We report the double photoionization spectra of thiophene, 3-bromothiophene, and 3,4-dibromothiophene using a coincidence spectroscopy technique based on electron time-of-flight measurements. Spectra have been recorded between the onset and 40.814 eV using He IIα radiation. The He I photoelectron spectrum of 3,4-dibromothiophene has also been measured.

The ultra-deep removal of thiophene to 0.1 ppmv level is necessary for coke oven gas to methane process. NaY zeolite was reported to have this potential, and acid sites in NaY play an important role on its desulfurization performance.

For photovoltaic polymers with a D-π-A backbone, there are a great deal of D and A units, but the choice of π bridge is relatively limited and thiophene (T) is still the most effective one.

Electrophilic phenylselenenylation of thiophenes. Synthesis of poly(phenylseleno)thiophenes.
Tetrahedron, 1994Abstract The phenylselenenyl sulfate, generated from the oxidation of diphenyl diselenide with ammonium persulfate, easily effects electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions on thiophene, 2- and 3-methylthiophenes and on 3-bromothiophene. The phenylseleno group activates the substrate to further substitution.

Removal of lead ions from water using thiophene-functionalized metal-organic frameworks.
Chemical Communications, 2019Heavy metal ion contamination in water is a hazard to all life. The removal of such ions from aqueous media by porous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is a growing field.

Electronic spectrum of thiophen and some deuterated thiophens
Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 2, 1972The electronic absorption spectra of thiophen and of some deuterated thiophens have been studied in the range 2500–1400 A. Three electronic transitions, with origins at 41 595, 48 330 and 53 270 cm–1 in C4H4S and two Rydberg series leading to the limit 71 570 cm–1 were analyzed.
