Reaction of thiourea and substituted thioureas with 1,3-dibromopropyne
Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 20084-Bromomethylidene-2-imino(phenylimino, acetylimino)-1,3-thiazolidine hydrobromides and 4-bromomethylidene-2-acetylimino-1,3-thiazolidine are synthesized by the reaction of thiourea, N-phenylthiourea, N,N′-diphenylthiourea and N-acetylthiourea with 1,3-dibromopropyne in glacial acetic acid, absolute methanol, acetonitrile at 20°C or upon heating (60°C).

Chemistry of Metabolites of Thioureas
1986Thiourea and some monosubstituted thioureas are toxic and tumorogenic while 1,3-diarylthioureas are not. There are strong indications that the biological activity of these compounds is due to oxidation at sulfur followed by reactions in which the sulfur moiety is separated from the rest of the molecule.
