CDC42‐Effector Proteins Regulate Higher Order Structure of Septins Required for CNS Myelin Integrity

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 3, March 2026.
CDC42‐effector proteins 1/2 are present in CNS myelin. They facilitate the higher order structure of myelin septin filaments. Their loss impairs septin‐dependent scaffolding of myelin. Myelin outfoldings do not cause secondary neuropathology per se. ABSTRACT The regular structure of CNS myelin requires specialized structural proteins, including septin ...

Readily Programmable, Body Temperature‐Responsive Liquid Crystal Elastomers With Dynamic Covalent Thiourea Bonds

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 5, 6 March 2026.
We present body temperature‐responsive exchangeable liquid crystal elastomers (xLCEs) incorporating dynamic covalent thiourea bonds. The actuation temperature is tuned by adjusting the comonomer composition to weaken intermolecular mesogen interactions, enabling responsiveness near body temperature (∼36°C).

Peroxisome Proliferator‑Activated Receptor Gamma Coactivator‑1α Deficiency in Hippocampal Astrocytes Underlies Enhanced Fear Memory Retrieval in Male Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Model Mice

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
PGC‑1α downregulation in hippocampal astrocytes disrupts ATP release and reduces connexin 43 (CX43) expression, impairing neuro‑glial communication. This promotes enhanced fear memory retrieval in PTSD. Chemogenetic activation of astrocytes or PGC‑1α agonist treatment rescues both CX43 expression and fear behavior, identifying astrocytic PGC‑1α/CX43 as

Cobalt‐Based Catalysts for Electrochemical Water Splitting: Harnessing the Power of Ionic Liquids and Deep Eutectic Solvents

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
Recent research has focused on using ionic liquids (ILs) and deep eutectic solvents (DESs) to prepare electrocatalysts. These solvents have unique physicochemical properties and are considered green media and functional materials. Cobalt‐based catalysts are commonly used for water splitting.

Dual Inhibition of COX‐2/5‐LOX Through Novel Hybrids of NSAIDs and Peptides: Insights from Molecular Dynamics Simulation and Per‐Residue Decomposition

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
Hybrid NSAID–aminoacid molecules have demonstrated excellent activity in inhibiting the cyclooxygenase/lipoxygenase system. Accordingly, the present study describes the synthesis of molecules of this kind, examining their behavior via docking, molecular dynamics simulations and per‐residue energy decomposition analyses.
