Queuing Theoretic Analysis of Power-performance Tradeoff in Power-efficient Computing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we study the power-performance relationship of power-efficient computing from a queuing theoretic perspective. We investigate the interplay of several system operations including processing speed, system on/off decisions, and server farm ...

Thresholding algorithm for local and parallel processing

open access: yesElectrical Engineering in Japan, 2005
AbstractIn this paper, we propose a thresholding algorithm. This algorithm works under a severe constraint: each pixel in a processed image must be derived from only information of its neighboring pixels. This constraint is very important for a low‐cost device such as a mobile camera, because it makes it possible to process each pixel in parallel.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

1 V CMOS subthreshold log domain PDM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A new CMOS circuit strategy for very low-voltage Pulse-Duration Modulators (PDM) is proposed. Optimization of voltage supply scaling below the sum of threshold voltages is based on Instantaneous Log Companding processing through the MOSFET operating in ...

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Laser Doppler Signal Denoising Based on Wavelet Packet Thresholding Method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, 2019
In laser Doppler velocimeter (LDV), calculation precision of Doppler shift is affected by noise contained in Doppler signal. In order to restrain the noise interference and improve the precision of signal processing, wavelet packet threshold denoising ...

Dual processing model of medical decision-making

open access: yesBMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making, 2012
Background Dual processing theory of human cognition postulates that reasoning and decision-making can be described as a function of both an intuitive, experiential, affective system (system I) and/or an analytical, deliberative (system II) processing ...

Multi-Camera Based Setup for Geometrical Measurement of Free-Falling Molten Glass Gob

open access: yesSensors, 2021
High temperatures complicate the direct measurements needed for continuous characterization of the properties of molten materials such as glass. However, the assumption that geometrical changes when the molten material is in free-fall can be correlated ...

The cellular and synaptic architecture of the mechanosensory dorsal horn [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The deep dorsal horn is a poorly characterized spinal cord region implicated in processing low-threshold mechanoreceptor (LTMR) information. We report an array of mouse genetic tools for defining neuronal components and functions of the dorsal horn LTMR ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
