MRP8‐Cre Transgenic Mice Are Resistant to Weight Gain and Diet‐Induced Obesity Independently of Neutrophils

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 9, September 2026.
The MRP8Cre mouse model is frequently used to investigate the biology of neutrophils. This study reports that MRP8Cre transgenic have a lower body weight and improved metabolic health, especially after high fat diet feeding, which correlates with decreased Serpine1/PAI‐1 expression in metabolic organs. Thromboinflammation vs. immunothrombosis: strategies for overcoming anticoagulant resistance in COVID-19 and other hyperinflammatory diseases. Is ROTEM helpful or not?

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Thrombosis and inflammation are closely interconnected. Systemic inflammation activates the coagulation system, while components of the coagulation system can, in turn, significantly influence the inflammatory response.

Case Report: Concomitant Massive Cerebral Venous Thrombosis and Internal Iliac Vein Thrombosis Related to Paucisymptomatic COVID-19 Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2021
Thrombotic complications are common in COVID-19 patients, but cerebral venous system involvement, timing after infection, optimal treatment, and long-term outcome are uncertain.

Toward Individualized Atherosclerosis Therapy: Clinical Endotypes, Programmable Therapeutics, and Delivery Constraints

open access: yesMedicine Bulletin, Volume 2, Issue 4, Page 388-405, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Atherosclerosis remains the dominant substrate of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), yet recurrent events persist even when LDL cholesterol is driven to guideline targets, underscoring residual risk as a central limitation of contemporary prevention.

Role of defensins in immunothrombosis

open access: yesRheumatology &Autoimmunity, Volume 6, Issue 3, Page 138-148, September 2026.
Defensins are important proteins that link the immune system and blood clotting, playing a key role in immunothrombosis. α‐defensins mainly come from neutrophils, while β‐defensins are produced by epithelial cells and platelets. These proteins help form blood clots in several ways: they slow down clot breakdown (fibrinolysis), activate platelets, and ...

Increased NETosis in Patients With Heart Failure Is Associated With Macrophage Activation Towards a Proinflammatory Phenotype

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 17, September 2026.
ABSTRACT In this study, we tested the hypothesis that there is an interaction between neutrophils (N) undergoing NETosis and the activation of macrophages (Mf) in the myocardium of patients with heart failure (HF). Ventricular biopsies were examined from patients with HF due to dilated (DCM, n = 7), ischemic (ICM, n = 7), or inflammatory (InfCM, n = 7)

Exacerbated expansive vascular remodeling due to disturbed flow in male mice overexpressing protein disulfide isomerase‐A1

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 17, September 2026.
Abstract Vascular expansive remodeling is involved in atherosclerosis/restenosis; however, its mechanisms need further investigation. Protein‐disulfide isomerase (PDIA1), a redox chaperone from the endoplasmic reticulum and cell surface, supports vascular smooth muscle mechanoadaptation.

The Immuno‐Cardiovascular Storm of Pre‐Eclampsia: Cytokine‐Mediated Endothelial Injury, Thrombosis, and Maternal Cardiovascular Instability

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 4, August 2026.
Placental ischemia in pre‐eclampsia initiates cytokine‐driven endothelial dysfunction, angiogenic imbalance, oxidative stress, and thromboinflammation. Elevated TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐17, sFlt‐1, and complement activation promote vasoconstriction, thrombosis, and cardiovascular instability.

Thromboinflammatory biomarkers in obstetric pathophysiology: Predictive insights into placental insufficiency and feto‐maternal adverse outcomes

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
Placental insufficiency is a thromboinflammatory disorder driven by angiogenic imbalance, complement activation, endothelial dysfunction and coagulation dysregulation, leading to microvascular thrombosis, impaired uteroplacental perfusion and adverse maternal and fetal outcomes, including pre‐eclampsia, fetal growth restriction and stillbirth. Abstract

Etude de la thromboinflammation à la phase aiguë de l'AVC ischémique : physiopathologie et nouvelles stratégies thérapeutiques

open access: yes
Ischemic stroke occurs when a cerebral artery is occluded by a thrombus and is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Risk factors such as diabetes and hypertension increase stroke incidence and severity. Recanalization is the only treatment:
