Single-frequency thulium-doped distributed-feedback fiber laser
Optics Letters, 2004We have successfully demonstrated a single-frequency distributed-feedback (DFB) thulium-doped silica fiber laser emitting at a wavelength of 1735 nm. The laser cavity is less than 5 cm long and is formed by intracore UV-written Bragg gratings with a phase shift. The laser is pumped at 790 nm from a Ti:sapphire laser and has a threshold pump power of 59

Ultrafast thulium-doped fiber laser mode locked with black phosphorus
Optics Letters, 2015We report, for the first time to our knowledge, the usage of black phosphorus (BP) as a saturable absorber for the mode locking of a thulium-doped fiber laser. We have experimentally shown that BP exhibits saturable absorption in the 2 μm wavelength range and supports ultrashort pulse generation.

Highly efficient high-power thulium-doped germanate glass fiber laser
Optics Letters, 2007A 64 W fiber laser at 1.9 microm with a slope efficiency of 68% with respect to the launching pump power at 800 nm was demonstrated in a one-end pump configuration using a piece of 20 cm long newly developed thulium-doped germanate glass double-cladding single-mode fiber. A quantum efficiency of 1.8 was achieved.

Magnetron-sputtering deposited WTe_2for an ultrafast thulium-doped fiber laser
Optics Letters, 2017Ultrafast pulse generation was demonstrated in a thulium-doped fiber laser mode-locked by magnetron-sputtering deposited WTe2 with a modulation depth, a nonsaturable loss, and a saturable intensity of 31%, 34.3%, and 7.6 MW/cm2, respectively. Stable soliton pulses could be obtained at a 1915.5 nm central wavelength with a pulse duration of 1.25 ps, an

Monolithic thulium-doped fiber laser
Photonics, Devices, and Systems VII, 2017In this contribution we report and discuss the results of laser characterizations of experimental thulium-doped optical fibers. These active fibers were fabricated in house and were tested in two laser systems to verify their characteristics. The first one, a monolithic fiber laser, was of great interest to us due to its potentially lower overall ...
