Q-switched thulium-doped fiber laser

Optical Engineering, 1993
A tunable Q-switched thulium-doped single-mode silica fiber laser is presented for the first time. Its performance is analyzed as a function of pulse repetition rate and pumping power. The optimization of laser parameters resulted in 4 W/1 30 ns, 1 .92-jrm wavelength pulses generated at a 4-kHz repetition rate. From the measured values of small- signal

High Performance Ultrafast Thulium-Doped Fiber Lasers

2019 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2019
Ultrafast lasers that deliver intense femtosecond pulses at carrier wavelengths beyond the well-established emission bands of Yb- or Ti:Sa-based sources have become extremely popular drivers for scientific applications. It is widely known that the long wavelength is a key property to enable new strong-field experiments or to significantly improve ...

All fiber thulium-doped fiber laser pumped Q-switched Ho:YAP laser

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
The high power infrared 2μm lasers have been extensively investigated for a number of commercial, scientific and engineering applications, such as remote chemical sensing, medical diagnostics, eye-safe laser radar, and environmental monitoring. Furthermore, high-power 2μm lasers are effective pump sources of optical parametrical oscillators and optical

Progress in thulium doped fiber lasers and aplifiers

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
We present results on the development of signal sources for the 2000 nm band. The ASE source is presented with a FWHM bandwidth of 70 nm and -20dB bandwidth of 229 nm with an integrated power of 7.5 mW. Narrow band lasers are presented made of a short piece of core-pumped thulium doped fiber and fiber Bragg gratings.

Temperature-dependent cross section spectra for thulium-doped fiber lasers

Optics Letters, 2023
An investigation on the temperature dependence of spectroscopic parameters of trivalent thulium ions is important for the design of high-power, thulium-doped fiber lasers and amplifiers. In this Letter, the thulium absorption/emission cross sections are determined in the spectral range 700–2200 nm and in the temperature range from −196°C to 300°C.

Thulium-doped ZBLAN blue upconversion fiber laser: theory

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1995
A theory is presented for thulium-doped ZBLAN fiber amplifiers and lasers that are upconversion pumped by a single source at ∼1150 nm and emit in the blue spectrum at ∼480 nm. The performance of both heavily saturated traveling-wave power amplifiers and laser oscillators is studied with a view to understanding device optimization.

156 micro-J ultrafast Thulium-doped fiber laser

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
A high energy, high power ultrafast Tm doped fiber laser system was successfully developed. Pulse energy of 156 μJ and average power of 15.6 W were achieved. The laser system consisted of a mode-locked 2020 nm seed oscillator and multiple-stage power amplifiers.

Q-Switched Thulium-Doped Domestic Silica Fiber Laser

Chinese Physics Letters, 2011
We report a cladding-pumped Tm3+-doped domestic silica fiber laser operated at 2μm and actively Q-switched with an acousto-optic modulator. Pulse trains are obtained as pumped by a 785 nm laser diode. The maximum average output power is 1.27W. Peak power up to 4.2kW and pulse energy up to 840 μJ are obtained with the pulse duration of 200 ns produced ...
