Transurethral endopyelotomy using thulium fiber laser

Urologiia, 2020
Transurethral endopyelotomy is an alternative treatment method for short stricture of ureteropelvic junction (UPJ).to evaluate the efficiency of transurethral thulium laser endopyelotomy.A total of 94 patients with UPJ obstruction during the period from December 2016 to December 2018 were prospectively enrolled in the study.

Thulium fiber laser lithotripsy

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
Complications during laser lithotripsy include optical fiber bending failure resulting in endoscope damage and low irrigation rates leading to poor visibility. Both problems are related to fiber diameter and limited by the Holmium:YAG laser (λ = 2120 nm) multimode beam profile.

Comparative Analyses and Ablation Efficiency of Thulium Fiber Laser by Stone Composition

Journal of Urology, 2023
Purpose: There are limited data on ablation effects of thulium fiber laser (TFL) settings with varying stone composition. Similarly, little is known surrounding the photothermal effects of TFL lithotripsy regarding the chemical and structural changes ...

Thulium fiber laser lithotripsy using tapered fibers

Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 2010
AbstractIntroductionThe Thulium fiber laser has recently been tested as a potential alternative to the Holmium:YAG laser for lithotripsy. This study explores use of a short taper for expanding the Thulium fiber laser beam at the distal tip of a small‐core fiber.MethodsThulium fiber laser radiation with a wavelength of 1,908 nm, 10 Hz pulse rate, 70 mJ ...

Thulium fiber laser in endourology: current clinical evidence

Current Opinion in Urology, 2022
Purpose of review To review and summarize preclinical and clinical data on thulium fiber laser's (TFL) effectiveness (ablation rate, stone-free rate etc.) and safety in terms of laser injuries and thermal damage. This enables us to assess how the in-vitro evidence translates into the clinical real-life scenario.

Does the Novel Thulium Fiber Laser Have a Higher Risk of Urothelial Thermal Injury than the Conventional Holmium Laser in an In Vitro Study?

Journal of endourology, 2022
Introduction and Objective: The novel thulium fiber laser (TFL) has been shown to break stones more rapidly than the holmium:YAG laser (HL). However, some evidence suggests that the TFL generates more heat.

Thulium fiber laser in urology: physics made simple

Current Opinion in Urology, 2021
Purpose of review In this narrative review, we will focus on a novel thulium fiber laser's physical properties in terms of its clinical applicability. Recent findings TFL has successfully moved forward from the preclinical trials into clinical practice and now is being widely used ...

Thulium fiber pumped tunable Ho:CaF_2 laser

Optics Letters, 2017
The paper reports the first room-temperature operation of the in-band pumped Ho:CaF2 laser. A set of Ho:CaF2 crystals varying in holmium concentrations (from 0.1 up to 2.5 mol. % of HoF2), synthesized using the Bridgeman technique, was used for lasing and related spectroscopy investigation.

Thulium-doped optical fibers for fiber lasers

Photonics, Devices, and Systems VII, 2017
We present preparation and characterization of thulium-doped silica-based optical fibers for fiber lasers. The fibers were prepared by modified chemical vapor deposition process and doped with alumina and thulium ions. Alumina co-doping was achieved through two different methods – solution doping and nanoparticle doping method.

Intelligent soliton molecules control in an ultrafast thulium fiber laser

Advanced Photonics Nexus
. Soliton molecules (SMs), bounded and self-assembled of particle-like dissipative solitons, exist with versatile mutual interactions and manifest substantial potential in soliton communication and optical data storage. However, controllable manipulation
