Uni‐site ATP synthesis in thylakoids
Uni‐site ATP synthesis was measured with thylakoids. The membrane‐bound ATP‐synthase, CF0F1 was brought into the active, reduced state by illumination in the presence of thioredoxin, dithiothreitol and phosphate. This enzyme contains two tightly bound ATP per CFoF1. ATP was released from the enzyme when ADP was added in substoichiometric amounts during

Optimizing Soil Properties Through Hydrogel and Sawdust Combinations for Better Plant Growth
This graphical abstract illustrates the effects of various soil amendments on poplar cutting vitality under drought conditions, as observed using X‐ray computed tomography (CT). It compares soil alone, soil with sawdust, soil with hydrogel, and their combination, highlighting differences in internal structure, water retention, and root development.

ABSTRACT Starch is the major energy storage compound in plants. It accumulates in the form of insoluble, partly crystalline granules whose number and shape are specific to each plant species. These characteristics are defined very early in starch biosynthesis, at the initiation stage.

Specific Distribution of Phosphatidylglycerol to Photosystem Complexes in the Thylakoid Membrane
The thylakoid membrane is the site of photochemical and electron transport reactions of oxygenic photosynthesis. The lipid composition of the thylakoid membrane, with two galactolipids, one sulfolipid, and one phospholipid, is highly conserved among ...

HSP90C interacts with PsbO1 and facilitates its thylakoid distribution from chloroplast stroma in Arabidopsis. [PDF]
Arabidopsis plastidic HSP90C is an HSP90 family molecular chaperone that is required for chloroplast development and function. To understand the mechanism of action of HSP90C within the chloroplast, we conducted a yeast two-hybrid screening and revealed ...

This article reports the first genome sequence of a UK Alternaria brassicae isolate. Dual RNA‐sequencing profiling of A. brassicae‐infected Brassica juncea leaves identified differentially expressed genes involved in pathogenicity and host response pathways in moderately resistant Sej‐2 (2) and moderately susceptible Pusa Jaikisan cultivars.

Research progress on the function of the thylakoid lumen proteins in chloroplasts
[Objective] Thylakoids are the important sites where photosynthesis takes place. The thylakoid membrane envelops form a central aqueous region known as the thylakoid lumen. There are various types of proteins residing in thylakoid lumen, including high

Iron deficiency in plants: an insight from proteomic approaches
Iron (Fe) deficiency chlorosis is a major nutritional disorder for crops growing in calcareous soils, and causes decreases in vegetative growth as well as marked yield and quality losses.

Heteromeric cis‐prenyltransferases (CPT) are indispensable for dolichol synthesis and protein N‐glycosylation in most eukaryotes. The catalytic subunits are strongly conserved throughout evolution, in contrast to the evolutionarily variable accessory subunits. The POC1 protein from Paramecium tetraurelia is the smallest identified CPT‐accessory subunit

New Insights in Thylakoid Membrane Organization [PDF]
High-pressure freezing (HPF) in combination with freeze substitution (FS) was used to analyse changes in the structure of barley chloroplasts during the daily change of light and darkness. In contrast to conventional treatment of samples, HPF-FS revealed substantial differences in chloroplast shape, volume and ultrastructure in the light period and ...
