Navigating Past Oceans: Comparing Metabarcoding and Metagenomics of Marine Ancient Sediment Environmental DNA

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The condition of ancient marine ecosystems provides context for contemporary biodiversity changes in human‐impacted oceans. Sequencing sedimentary ancient DNA (sedaDNA) is an emerging method for generating high‐resolution biodiversity time‐series data, offering insights into past ecosystems.

Synthesis technique and electron beam damage study of nanometer-thin single-crystalline thymine

open access: yesStructural Dynamics
Samples suitable for electron diffraction studies must satisfy certain characteristics such as having a thickness in the range of 10–100 nm. We report, to our knowledge, the first successful synthesis technique of nanometer-thin sheets of single ...

Complex population genetic structure of the bark beetle predator Thanasimus formicarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Cleridae) across its European range

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Abstract Thanasimus formicarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Cleridae) is an important bark beetle predator and can reduce bark beetle population densities of some of the most severe forest pests in Europe. We analysed the population genetics and phylogeography of T.

Reproductive functions and fertility preservation in men with sickle cell disease

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a prevalent hereditary disorder with significant morbidity, including potential impacts on male fertility. This study aims to evaluate the semen parameters in men with SCD and assess the outcomes of fertility preservation strategies.

Kinetics of Thymine Photodimerization in DNA

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 1963
The kinetics of thymine photodimerization in E. coli DNA have been measured at various wavelengths of ultraviolet light. The initial quantum yield is not strongly dependent on wavelength. The ratio of thymine dimer to thymine in the photostationary state is much more dependent on wavelength.

Identification of MEF2A, MEF2C, and MEF2D interactomes in basal and Fsk‐stimulated mouse MA‐10 Leydig cells

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Myocyte enhancer factor 2 transcription factors regulate essential transcriptional programs in various cell types. The activity of myocyte enhancer factor 2 factors is modulated through interactions with cofactors, chromatin remodelers, and other regulatory proteins, which are dependent on cell context and physiological state.
