In Graves' hyperthyroidism, suppression of serum TSH after restoration of normal serum T4 and T3 with treatment has been attributed to binding of TSH-receptor antibodies to TSH receptors in the pituitary. Accordingly, the relationship between TSH and serum thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI) was examined during follow-up of patients with Graves ...

Several assays for thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulins in the blood in patients with Graves' disease have been described recently; depending upon the method, different names have been used and distinct entities thus implied. Using an increase in cyclic AMP in the human thyroid slice after 2 h of incubation as an index of thyroid stimulation, we ...

Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin is Often Negative in Children with Graves' Disease
Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2008The diagnosis of Graves' disease (GD) is typically confirmed with a thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI) titer. While TSI is reported to be positive in >90% of patients with GD, our anecdotal experience suggests that TSI negative GD may be more common in children. To investigate the incidence of TSI negative GD in our population and to compare ...

Thyroid-Stimulating Immunoglobulins
Hormone Research, 2008The presence of thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulins in patients with Graves’ disease is well established. Considerable evidence has accumulated that these immunoglobulins are antibodies to a thyroid plasma membrane antigen whose precise nature remains to be identified.

THYROID-STIMULATING IMMUNOGLOBULINS IN GRAVES' DISEASE
The Lancet, 1974Abstract A receptor assay for T.S.H. using human thyroid membranes and receptor-purified 125 I-labelled T.S.H. was used to study the interaction of Graves' immunoglobulins with thyroid membranes. Immunoglobulins from twenty-two of twenty-five patients with Graves' disease clearly inhibited the binding of T.S.H. to human thyroid membranes. Significant

We aimed to investigate test utilization of the competition-based M22 thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody (M22-TSH Rc Ab) and thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI) bioassay in Korea. We retrospectively reviewed data on M22-TSH Rc Ab assays and TSI assays from the laboratory information system between January 1, 2015, and June 30, 2020 ...

THYROID‐STIMULATING IMMUNOGLOBULINS IN OPHTHALMIC GRAVES'DISEASE
Clinical Endocrinology, 1977SUMMARYThyroid‐stimulating immunoglobulins (TSI) have been detected by receptor assay in the sera of 43% of patients with ophthalmic Graves’disease. Comparison of the receptor assay studies with thyroid function tests indicated that in several patients the antibodies detected by receptor assay were biologically inactive.
