Nihon Naika Gakkai Zasshi, 1997 甲状腺腫の性状の評価には超音波検査(US)がもっとも広く行われている.結節を高感度に検出し,特に腺腫様甲状腺腫の診断に有用である.甲状腺中毒症の原因検索のため123Iまたは99mTc甲状腺シンチグラフィーが行われる.特にバセドウ病と無痛性甲状腺炎との鑑別に有用である.可逆性甲状腺機能低下症では摂取率高値を示す.分化型甲状腺癌の転移巣の早期発見は131I治療効果を考えた場合重要であり,最近開発された99mTc-MIBIが注目されている.
