Abstract There is increasing concern regarding pollutants disrupting the vertebrate thyroid hormone (TH) system, which is crucial for development. Thus, identification of TH system–disrupting chemicals (THSDCs) is an important requirement in the Organisation for Economic Co‐operation and Development (OECD) testing framework.

Thyroid hormone regulates distinct paths to maturation in pigment cell lineages [PDF]
Thyroid hormone (TH) regulates diverse developmental events and can drive disparate cellular outcomes. In zebrafish, TH has opposite effects on neural crest derived pigment cells of the adult stripe pattern, limiting melanophore population expansion, yet

Cross‐species extrapolation of adverse outcome pathway network on reproductive toxicity under the One Health perspective using new approach methodologies. AOP = adverse outcome pathway. Abstract Although ecotoxicological and toxicological risk assessments are performed separately from each other, recent efforts have been made in both disciplines to ...

Exposure to polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) suppresses the release of pro-inflammatory products by alveolar macrophages in vitro [PDF]
Endocrine disrupting chemicals have adverse effects on immune function that may result in respiratory conditions. Inhalation of dust is a major route of exposure to PBDEs; however, the impact of PBDEs on the immune response is unclear.

Abstract Efforts to use transcriptomics for toxicity testing have classically relied on the assumption that chemicals consistently produce characteristic transcriptomic signatures that are reflective of their mechanism of action. However, the degree to which transcriptomic responses are conserved across different test methodologies has seldom been ...

Effect of progestin on thyroid function in female Wistar rats
IntroductionTo characterize the influence of female-specific hormones on women’s thyroid function, the study investigated the influence of extra progestin from oral contraceptives on inducing thyroid dysfunction.MethodsSixty female Wistar rats were ...

Thyroid hormone receptor and thyroid hormone refractory disease.

ABSTRACT Medicago sativa L. (alfalfa) harbors a remarkably diverse reservoir of bioactive secondary metabolites. Flavonoids, isoflavones, and triterpenoid saponins dominate its bioactivity landscape, driving potent antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, antimicrobial, estrogenic, hypolipidemic, and cytotoxic actions through redox modulation, membrane ...
