In Situ Assembly of Fluorogenic RNA for Screening Natural Anti‐Liver Fibrosis Products via Dynamic Visualization of COL1A1 mRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces an in situ assembly of fluorogenic RNA approach for screening natural anti‐liver fibrosis compounds and dynamic visualization of endogenous COL1A1 mRNA in live cells. It offers a simple, cost‐effective approach of visualizing RNA dynamics and conducting drug screening in live cells, presenting a significant potential for the ...

Hormonal Factors Moderate the Associations Between Vascular Risk Factors and White Matter Hyperintensities [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Objective: To examine the moderation effects of hormonal factors on the associations between vascular risk factors and white matter hyperintensities (WMH) in men and women, separately. Methods: WMH were automatically segmented and quantified in the UK Biobank dataset (N = 18,294). Generalised linear models were applied to examine 1) the main effects of

Thyroid hormones in fetal growth and prepartum maturation.

open access: yesJournal of Endocrinology, 2014
The thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), are essential for normal growth and development of the fetus. Their bioavailability in utero depends on development of the fetal hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid gland axis and the abundance ...

The Immune Microenvironment: New Therapeutic Implications in Organ Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in understanding the immune microenvironment's role in fibrosis, focusing on phenotypic/functional alterations of immune cells and their dynamic interactions with other cellular constituents within tissues. The authors further explore therapeutic opportunities and challenges in targeting immune microenvironment ...

Hatching the cleidoic egg: the role of thyroid hormones

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2013
A major life stage transition in birds and other oviparous sauropsids is the hatching of the cleidoic egg. Not unlike amphibian metamorphosis, hatching in these species can be regarded as a transition from a relatively well-protected aqueous environment ...

Thyroid Hormones, T3 and T4, in the Brain

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2014
Thyroid hormones (THs) are essential for fetal and post-natal nervous system development and also play an important role in the maintenance of adult brain function.

A Phase 3 Multicenter, Double‐Blind Study Comparing Efficacy, Safety, Immunogenicity, and Pharmacokinetics of Alkem's Biosimilar Teriparatide Versus Reference Teriparatide in Postmenopausal Osteoporosis

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
This phase III study demonstrated that Alkem's biosimilar teriparatide is noninferior to reference teriparatide in improving bone mineral density at the lumbar spine and femoral neck in postmenopausal osteoporosis patients, with comparable safety, pharmacodynamics, and immunogenicity profiles over 48 weeks of treatment.

Symptom based Hierarchical Classification of Diabetes and Thyroid disorders using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs) are soft computing technique that follows an approach similar to human reasoning and human decision-making process, making them a valuable modeling and simulation methodology. Medical Decision Systems are complex systems consisting of many factors that may be complementary, contradictory, and competitive; these factors ...

Thyroid Hormone Metabolism

open access: yesFolia Endocrinologica Japonica, 1993
Most thyroxine (T4) secreted from the thyroid is deiodinated in peripheral tissues. At least three isozymes are known in iodothyronine deiodinase which catalyzes the conversion of T4 to triiodothyronine (T3) or reverse T3. Type I 5'-deiodinase (5'D-I) exists in most tissues including the liver, kidney and thyroid.
