Buckling‐Driven Linearity in Flexible Capacitive Pressure Sensors Based on a Three‐Dimensional Dual‐Pore Polyurethane Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible pressure sensor utilizing a 3D dual‐pore polyurethane structure is developed to overcome the intrinsic trade‐off between sensitivity and linearity. By inducing sequential buckling through distinct pore sizes and shapes, the device achieves highly linear and sensitive responses across a wide pressure range.

Pharmacologic Modulation of ARID3A with Rimegepant Reactivates Type I Interferon Signaling and Sensitizes Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer to PD‐1 Blockade

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies ARID3A as a key immunosuppressive transcription factor in TNBC. Its inhibition activates the type I IFN pathway, boosting CD8+ T cell infiltration and sensitizing tumors to anti‐PD‐1. The FDA‐approved migraine drug Rimegepant targets ARID3A, enhances immunotherapy efficacy in preclinical models, and establishes a druggable axis to

Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.

Health disparities in chronic liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract The syndemic of hazardous alcohol consumption, opioid use, and obesity has led to important changes in liver disease epidemiology that have exacerbated health disparities. Health disparities occur when plausibly avoidable health differences are experienced by socially disadvantaged populations.

Change in End-Tidal Co 2 After Mini-Fluid Challenge to Determine Fluid Responsiveness

open access: yesCritical Care Explorations, 2022
OBJECTIVES:. Distributive shock is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the ICU. IV fluid resuscitation is a vital intervention to improve cardiac output and end-organ perfusion during the initial resuscitation and for those who remain fluid ...

A Piezo‐Mimetic Ionic Hydrogel Harnessing Joint Motion for Cartilage Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A piezo‐mimetic ionic hydrogel converts mechanical deformation into bioactive ionic currents via stress‐induced asymmetric ion migration. Coupled with sustained Mg2+ release, this mechano‐electrochemical platform bridges mechanical loading and cellular signaling, enabling load‐adaptive stimulation and enhanced cartilage regeneration. ABSTRACT Articular

From medical treatment option to dogma: Low tidal volume ventilation has become an unquestioned truth in ARDS

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Ventilation
Resistance to paradigm shifts is a common issue in medicine, often delaying the adoption of new therapies despite strong evidence. This perspective explores how medical treatments can transition from being evidence based practices to rigid dogma.

Targeting PLD3 Reverses the Immunosuppressive Niche by Reprogramming Tumor‐Associated Macrophages and Potentiates Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PLD3 activates the lysosomal‐AKT‐NF‐κB axis to drive cellular senescence in macrophages, establishing an immunosuppressive TME by limiting the infiltration of cytotoxic T, NK, and NKT cells, which confers resistance to anti‐PD‐1 therapy. Abrine inhibits PLD3 expression, restoring antitumor immunity and synergizing with anti‐PD‐1 treatment.

An experimental model of asthma in rats using ovalbumin and lipopolysaccharide allergens

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Asthma is chronic and multi-factorial inflammatory disease hence single allergen induced asthma in an animal is not identical to clinical asthma.

Respiratory Volume Monitoring: A Machine-Learning Approach to the Non-Invasive Prediction of Tidal Volume and Minute Ventilation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Continuous monitoring of ventilatory parameters such as tidal volume (TV) and minute ventilation (MV) has shown to be effective in the prevention of respiratory compromise events in hospitalized patients.
