Stability and Stabilization of Systems with Time Delay

IEEE Control Systems, 2011
Time-delays are important components of many dynamical systems that describe coupling or interconnection between dynamics, propagation, or transport phenomena in shared environments, in heredity, and in competition in population dynamics. This monograph addresses the problem of stability analysis and the stabilisation of dynamical systems subjected to ...

Time-Delay Systems

1999
A time-delay under the context of process control systems may be defined as the time interval from the application of a control signal to any observable change in the process variable. Time delays have always been among the most difficult problems encountered in process control. It could occur for various reasons and in different magnitudes.

Canonical forms of time-delay systems

2012 IEEE 51st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2012
The paper focuses on a long standing problem which consists in identifying those time-delay systems which can be transformed into a delay-free system by a suitable change of state coordinates. Both linear and nonlinear systems are considered. It is shown that the so-called cyclic vectors introduced by Olbrot and co-workers are rehabilitated through the

Switching control for time-delay systems

2006 American Control Conference, 2006
In this paper, a switching control scheme for uncertain time-delay LTI systems is presented. It is assumed that the plant is described by a family of known controllable and observable LTI systems with delay in the states, and that a bound on the magnitude of the exogenous disturbances is available. It is shown that exact tracking can be achieved in the

Generalized synchronization in time-delayed systems

Physical Review E, 2005
We investigate the generalized synchronization between two unidirectionally linearly and nonlinearly coupled chaotic nonidentical Ikeda models and find existence conditions of the generalized synchronization. Also we study the chaos synchronization between nonidentical Ikeda models with variable feedback-delay times and find the existence and ...

Encryption with synchronized time-delayed systems

Physical Review E, 2005
We propose a new communication scheme that uses time-delayed chaotic systems with delay time modulation. In this method, the transmitter encodes a message as an additional modulation of the delay time and then the receiver decodes the message by tracking the delay time. We demonstrate our communication scheme in a system of coupled logistic maps.
