Time Headway in Different Vehicle-Following Manoeuvres

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1980
Reliable differences in time headway were observed for 6 experienced volunteer truck drivers who drove continuously 11 hr. on each of 4 days over a 300-mile route. Type of manoeuvre was a significant factor in observed time headway in following another vehicle.

Research of PCE based on the time-headway

2011 International Conference on Business Management and Electronic Information, 2011
Vehicles in a queue affect each other, so the record of time-headway was made in motorcades. 377 data groups of time-headway were collected at north Jia Song Road in shanghai using stopwatch. The research was calibrated on “steady-flow” traffic operations.

An Improved Variable Time Headway Strategy For ACC

Proceedings of the 2019 International Conference on Robotics, Intelligent Control and Artificial Intelligence, 2019
The spacing strategy is the basis of the adaptive cruise control strategy, it plays an important role in the design of the ACC system. It requires us to allocate the car spacing according to the environment in which the vehicle is traveling, and improve the utilization of the road under the premise of ensuring driving safety.

Time Headway in Car following and Operational Performance during Unexpected Braking

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1997
The relation between car-following behaviour and braking performance was studied in a driving simulator. The theoretical perspective was that individual differences in tactical car-driving behaviour may be related to skills on the operational level of the driving task via a process of adaptation.

Determinants of time headway adopted by truck drivers

Ergonomics, 1981
As a measure of driving performance, time headway provides a way of representing the total interaction between a driver, his vehicle and the road environment as well as an exact description of episodes of dangerously close following. This paper presents the results of a field experiment on the effects on time headway of prolonged driving in a ...

Control of bus headways by traffic signal timing methods

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 1978
Bus bunching causes uneven passenger loadings and increases the average passenger waiting time. Bunching is caused by an unstable relationship between delay in the actual bus arrival time and passenger loading time requirements. An appropriate mathematical representation of this process is provided, and the general mathematical requirements for ...
