Event History Analysis of Women's Marriage Timing

本研究の目的は、現代女性の結婚行動を、主として社会階層的要因との関連において説明することである。三二四人の女性の個人データに基づき、結婚を早めたりあるいは遅らせたりする規定要因をイベントヒストリー分析を用いて明らかにする。分析の結果明らかになった知見は、第一に、現代において、女性の結婚の時機は、その出身家庭の社会的地位によっては規定されないこと、つまり結婚の時機を規定するのは、女性本人が形成した社会的地位それ自身である。第二に、学歴や職業といった女性の社会的地位が、結婚の機会や意思決定に影響し、高学歴女性や専門職など高い地位を達成した女性は結婚を遅らせるようになる。第三に、興味深い知見として、母親の就労は娘の結婚年齢を低下させる。
