Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Ambulatory Flash Glucose Monitoring Device Detects Hypoglycemia and Time in Range in Children and Adolescents of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesJournal of the Scientific Society
Objective: The mainstay of diabetes control and management is glucose monitoring (GM). Improving glycemic control and decreasing glycemic variability is important to prevent microvascular complications of diabetes.

A Long Range Dependence Stable Process and an Infinite Variance Branching System [PDF]

open access: yes
We prove a functional limit theorem for the rescaled occupation time fluctuations of a (d, , )- branching particle system (particles moving in Rd according to a symmetric -stable L´evy process, branching law in the domain of attraction of a (1 + )-stable

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Development of a Full-Field Time-of-Flight Range Imaging System

open access: yes, 2008
A full-field, time-of-flight, image ranging system or 3D camera has been developed from a proof-of-principle to a working prototype stage, capable of determining the intensity and range for every pixel in a scene.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Real-world effectiveness of GLP-1 receptor agonist-based treatment strategies on “time in range” in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Background: Diabetes affects millions of people worldwide annually, and several methods, including medications, are used for its management; glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) are one such class of medications.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Real-world glycemic outcomes of a tubeless automated insulin delivery system: a single-center observational study in Italy

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundThe objective of this study is to describe the short-term change observed in CGM-related measures and relevant clinical variables in individuals with type 1 diabetes transitioning to Omnipod 5 insulin treatment within a real-world setting ...
