The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Effect of gonadorelin dose and an additional gonadorelin treatment 2 days after the initiation of Resynch-25 on ovarian dynamics and fertility of lactating Holstein cows

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Our objective was to improve ovulatory response at the initiation of the Resynch-25 protocol by (1) increasing the dose of GnRH from 100 µg to 200 µg; and (2) giving a second GnRH treatment 56 h after the initiation of the protocol.

Effect of nerve growth factor-β administered at insemination for lactating Holstein dairy cows bred after timed-artificial insemination protocol

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2022
: The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of nerve growth factor-β (NGF), purified from bulls' seminal plasma and administered at the time of artificial insemination (AI), on progesterone post-AI, interferon-stimulated genes (ISG), and

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Effect of 200 µg of gonadorelin at the first gonadotropin-releasing hormone of the Resynch-25 on ovarian dynamics and fertility in lactating Holstein cows

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Our objective was to determine the effect of a 200-µg dose of GnRH 25 d after previous artificial insemination (AI) in a Resynch-25 resynchronization program on ovulatory response, circulating progesterone (P4) concentrations before and after treatment,

Effect of delayed timing of artificial insemination with sex-sorted semen on pregnancy per artificial insemination in synchronized dairy heifers managed in a seasonal-calving pasture-based system

open access: yesJDS Communications, 2023
The objective of this study was to evaluate the timing of artificial insemination (AI) with frozen-thawed sex-sorted semen on pregnancy per AI (P/AI) in dairy heifers.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

When Implementing the Presynch-11/Ovsynch Reproductive Management Program, the Fertility of Lactating Dairy Cows Improved When They Received Timed Artificial Insemination Compared with the Inclusion of Estrus Detection

open access: yesAnimals
Artificial insemination 12 h following observed standing estrus is a standard estimate of the fertility levels of cattle. The main objective of this study was to determine if controlling ovarian development with a fertility program could alter the ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Effects of large follicle numbers at the onset of short-term timed artificial insemination protocol in lactating dairy cows

open access: yesJDS Communications
This study aimed to compare the fertility of lactating Holstein cows with only 1 large follicle (LF, diameter ≥10 mm) with those with ≥2 LF and corpora lutea at the start of short-term ovulation synchronization and timed artificial insemination (AI ...
