NETworking for Health and in Disease: Neutrophil Extracellular Traps in Pediatric Surgical Care
This comprehensive review examines the role of Neutrophil Extracellular Traps (NETs) in pediatric surgery. Focusing on NET formation, functions, and implications, this study highlights their dual impact in infection control and contribution to tissue ...

Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

Podosome-type adhesions and focal adhesions, so alike yet so different.
International audienceCell-matrix adhesions are essential for cell migration, tissue organization and differentiation, therefore playing central roles in embryonic development, remodeling and homeostasis of tissues and organs.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

A 3D printable tissue adhesive
AbstractTissue adhesives are promising alternatives to sutures and staples for joining tissues, sealing defects, and immobilizing devices. However, existing adhesives mostly take the forms of glues or hydrogels, which offer limited versatility. We report a direct-ink-write 3D printable tissue adhesive which can be used to fabricate bioadhesive patches ...

Tissue adhesive in bronchial closure
Monomeric n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate was used in 25 patients undergoing pulmonary resections to strengthen the bronchial stump after pneumonectomy (n = 11) and to aid bronchial (n = 13) and tracheal anastomosis (n = 1) after sleeve resections. Neither group had any incidence of bronchopleural fistula. Bronchial anastomosis was accomplished in patients who

The exertion of cell-cell adhesions
Regulation of cadherin adhesion in tissue organization and malignant transformation.Cadherins are cell-cell adhesion molecules present in all tissues. Cadherins are transmembrane-proteins that form a homotypic, calcium-dependent complex with cadherins ...
