COMPLEMENT FIXATION IN DISEASED TISSUES [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Experimental Medicine, 1961
An immunohistologic complement fixation test has been used in an effort to detect immune complexes in sections of kidney from rats injected with rabbit anti-rat kidney serum and in sections of biopsied kidneys from four humans with membranous glomerulonephritis.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Loss of Immunohistochemical Reactivity in Association With Handling-Induced Dark Neurons in Mouse Brains. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The handling-induced dark neuron is a histological artifact observed in brain samples handled before fixation with aldehydes. To explore associations between dark neurons and immunohistochemical alterations in mouse brains, we examined protein products ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Soil P Status and Nitrogen Fixation on Organic Dairy Farms in Ontario and Nova Scotia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Legumes are a key source of nitrogen (N) in organic production systems. However, there is evidence that reduced inputs may be leading to deficient soil phosphorus (P) on some organic dairy farms (Roberts et. al. 2008).

Plant Tissue Fixation v1

open access: yes, 2018
This protocol is to fix freshly collected plant tissue for serial sectioning. Although this protocol is similar to ones used forin situ mRNA hybridization, it should not be used for that purpose as it is not nearly careful/gently enough. This protocol has been tested with tomato, tobacco, and date fruits with good results.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Endoscopic-Assisted Fibula Reduction With Full Percutaneous Fixation of Ankle Fracture Dislocation

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
Ankle fracture is one of the most commonly encountered fractures. Open reduction and internal fixation is the gold standard of treatment. However, minimally invasive fixation of ankle fracture is gaining popularity among foot and ankle surgeons as the ...

Special symposium: fixation and tissue processing models [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnic & Histochemistry, 2009
Abstract Fixation and processing of tissue to paraffin blocks permit thin (4-5 microm) sections of tissues to be cut. Tissues and their subcellular components and surrounding stroma are visualized by cutting thin sections and staining them histochemically or immunohistochemically and viewing the sections using a bright field microscope. During the last
