A Novel Human Stem Cell Coculture System that Maintains the Survival and Function of Culture Islet-Like Cell Clusters

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2008
Islet-like cell clusters (ICCs) have been suggested to be a source of insulin-producing tissue for xenotransplantation in type 1 diabetes. We designed an approach to maintain the cultured rat pancreatic ICC survival and function, when cocultured with ...

Nkx2‐5 Is Expressed in Atherosclerotic Plaques and Attenuates Development of Atherosclerosis in Apolipoprotein E–Deficient Mice

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2016
Background NK2 homeobox 5 (Nkx2‐5) is a cardiac homeobox transcription factor that is expressed in a broad range of cardiac sublineages. Embryos lacking Nkx2‐5 are nonviable attributed to growth retardation and gross abnormalities of the heart.

Dual‐Network Protein Hydrogels Promote Rapid Hemostasis and Immune‐Regulated Scarless Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A dual‐network protein hydrogel substantially improves hemostasis and scar‐free healing. The adaptive network maintains intimate tissue contact while providing strong wet adhesion, tunable mechanics, and controlled degradation. Concurrent ROS scavenging and M2 polarization suppress fibrotic pathways, preventing scar formation.

Plasma Markers of Degradation of Extracellular Matrix with Intrauterine Herpes Infection

open access: yesДетские инфекции (Москва), 2016
The study of the dynamics of serum levels of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-8, MMP-9) and tissue inhibitor (TIMP-1) in newborns with intrauterine herpes infection in the early neonatal period.

A Viscous DES‐AAV‐Foxo1 Delivery System With High Transfection Efficiency for the Treatment of Corneal Endothelial Dysfunction by Restoring Mitochondria‐ER Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High glucose triggers corneal endothelial dysfunction by impairing FOXO1‐mediated ITPR1 transcription, leading to disrupted mitochondria‐associated membrane (MAM) integrity and defective ER‐to‐mitochondria Ca2+ transfer. This study develops an innovative viscous DES‐AAV‐Foxo1 delivery system with enhanced transfection efficiency. This non‐invasive gene

Relationship between matrix metalloproteinases and the occurrence and development of ovarian cancer

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research
Ovarian cancer is one of the most malignant genital cancers, with a high mortality rate. Many researchers have suggested that matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) have remarkably high expression in ovarian cancer tissues. MMPs are considered to be related to

T-Cell Production of Matrix Metalloproteinases and Inhibition of Parasite Clearance by TIMP-1 During Chronic Infection in the Brain

open access: yesASN Neuro, 2010
Chronic infection with the intracellular protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii leads to tissue remodelling in the brain and a continuous requirement for peripheral leucocyte migration within the CNS (central nervous system).

WTAP‐Mediated m6A Modification Targets the LRP1‐Lipid Metabolism Axis to Regulate Joint Cartilage Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
WTAP drives cartilage regeneration by activating an LRP1‐dependent lipid metabolic program in macrophages, enhancing IL‐10 and TGF‐β secretion to promote chondrogenic differentiation. Leveraging this mechanism, virtual screening identifies LRP1‐targeting compounds that effectively stimulate cartilage repair, highlighting a druggable epigenetic ...

Integrated Single‐Cell and Spatial Analysis Reveals a Metabolic‐Immune Axis Driving Aortic Dissection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell and spatial profiling of 110 human thoracic aortic samples reveals a stromal–immune circuit driving aortic dissection. An elastin‐rich fibroblast subset is depleted with age and markedly reduced in disease, weakening aortic wall integrity.
