Hepatocyte BDNF Acts as a Novel Immune Checkpoint to Restrain TLR4‐Mediated Acute Hepatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies hepatocyte‐derived BDNF as an endogenous TLR4 antagonist that alleviates acute hepatitis. BDNF is downregulated in hepatocytes via REST‐mediated transcriptional repression during ALI/ALF. Mechanistically, BDNF binds to TLR4 on macrophages to suppress inflammation.

Biomimetic Nanoplatform for Targeted Glioblastoma Therapy via Concurrently Triggering GPX4/DHODH Mediated Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Considering the great challenge in Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) treatment, the authors designed and synthesized a multifunctional nanoplatform that effectively induced ferroptosis by synergetically inhibiting intrinsic intrisinc anti‐ferroptosis proteins, GPX4 & DHODH, and realized excellent in vitro and in vivo anti‐GBM effect.

Dysregulation of Oral Microbial Eicosapentaenoic Acid Induced by Chronic Restraint Stress Exacerbates Periodontitis via M1 Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The intricate interplay between chronic psychological stress and periodontitis, mediated by oral microbiota and macrophage polarization, remains largely enigmatic. Here, we demonstrate that chronic restraint stress (CRS) exacerbates periodontitis by inducing oral microbial dysbiosis and a consequential shift in host metabolism.

FETAL TISSUE TRANSPLANTATION

Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1989
The subject of human fetal tissue transplantation has recently become the focus of major public policy debate. In March 1988, Dr Robert Windom, Assistant Secretary of Health, clearly focused the issue for the biomedicai community by prohibiting the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md, from conducting intramural research on the transplantation ...

Human Tissue Transplantation

1967
Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on primarily renal transplantation in man. In the process of transplanting livers, kidneys, and skin in the human the development of new syndromes was found. The behavior of man to the allografting of tissues and organs is similar to that of lower mammals, it is not identical. It is possible in man to transplant

Composite Tissue Transplantation

2013
Composite tissue transplantation is an emerging new era in transplant medicine and has become a viable reconstructive option for patients with large and devastating tissue defects. Advances in microsurgical techniques, transplant immunology and the development of potent immunosuppressive agents have enabled the realization of such types of transplants.
