An Example of Polyagglutinability Due to the Tn Antigen
British Journal of Haematology, 1970Summary. A case of atypical polyagglutinability due to the Tn antigen is described. The patient, although apparently healthy, has leucopenia and thrombocytopenia. Her cells presented the usual difficulties of polyagglutinable cells due to the presence of anti‐Tn in typing reagents whether of human or animal origin.

Rational design of a Tn antigen mimic
Chemical Communications, 2011A novel Tn antigen mimic, in which the natural underlying amino acid has been replaced by the non-natural α-methylserine analogue, is reported. This derivative exhibits a similar affinity for a natural lectin as for the natural Tn and retains the bioactive conformation observed in the Tn-containing glycopeptides with anti-MUC1 antibodies.

MLS 128 bound to mucin glycopeptides from LS 180 cells and their asialo forms to the same extent as well as to ovine submaxillary mucin (OSM) and asialo OSM.

Enzymatic synthesis of the Tn antigen
Journal of Molecular Catalysis B: Enzymatic, 2007The enzymatic synthesis of the Tn antigen (GalNAc--O-Ser), a glyco-aminoacid of great biological importance, is reported. The reaction was promoted by commercial -N-acetylgalactosaminidase from Acremonium sp., using p-nitrophenyl--N-acetylgalactosamine as the donor. The kinetics were monitored by capillary electrophoresis and LC–UV-MS.

AbstractGlycosylation is one of the major posttranslational modifications of proteins. N‐glycosylation (Asn‐linked) and O‐glycosylation (Ser/Thr‐linked) are the two main forms. Abnormal O‐glycosylation is frequently observed on the surface of tumor cells, and is associated with an adverse outcome and poor prognosis in patients with cancer.
