An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Mid-infrared sub-wavelength grating mirror design: tolerance and influence of technological constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
High polarization selective Si/SiO2 mid-infrared sub-wavelength grating mirrors with large bandwidth adapted to VCSEL integration are compared. These mirrors have been automatically designed for operation at \lambda = 2.3 $\mu$m by an optimization ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Research on Part Tolerances for RV-40E Reducer Based on Virtual Prototype Technology

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The RV-40E reducer is the representative model of the a typical RV reducer, where transmission accuracy and manufacturing cost are two important optimization indicators, while transmission accuracy depends on both the selection of accuracy levels for ...

Protective wrapping of off-the-shelf components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
System designers using off-the-shelf components (OTSCs), whose internals they cannot change, often use add-on “wrappers” to adapt the OTSCs’ behaviour as required.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Optimal F-Number of Ritchey–Chrétien Telescope Based on Tolerance Analysis of Mirror Components

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The Ritchey–Chrétien telescope has been the key optical module for remote sensing instruments (RSI), in which the root mean square (RMS) random surface wavefront error and the alignment error of the primary and the secondary mirror takes the highest ...
