Prediction of Peak Shear Strength of Natural, Unfilled Rock Joints Accounting for Matedness Based on Measured Aperture

open access: yesRock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2021
The mechanical behaviour of natural, unfilled rock joints is influenced by the interaction between surface roughness and matedness of the contact surfaces. In the field, natural rock joints normally exhibit a mismatch between the contact surfaces, mainly

Calculation and Simulation Processing of Tooth Surface of Negative Pressure Angle Spiral Clutch

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2019
The method of machining negative pressure angle spiral clutches with disc milling cutter and gear milling machine is studied. The mathematical model is established according to the characteristics of spiral clutches firstly, and the coordinate ...

Revisiting Plane-Generated Gear Tooth Surfaces: A Novel Design Perspective

open access: yes, 2015
The teeth of ordinary spur and helical gears are generatedby a (virtual) rack provided with planar generating surfaces. The resulting tooth surface shapes are a circle-involute cylinder in the case of spur gears, and a circle-involute helicoid for ...

Computerized Design and Generation of Low-Noise Helical Gears with Modified Surface Topology

open access: yes, 1994
An approach for design and generation of low-noise helical gears with localized bearing contact is proposed. The approach is applied to double circular arc helical gears and modified involute helical gears.

Effect of indenter material on reliability of all-ceramic crowns.

open access: yesJournal of The Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2020
OBJECTIVES Controversy exists about whether the elastic modulus (E) mismatch between the loading indenter and ceramic materials influences fatigue testing results.

Detection of a Pd-Ni interlayer at the Pd/Ni interface of an epitaxial Pd film on cube textured nickel (001)

open access: yes, 2002
We studied the microstructure of a Pd overlayer deposited on a cube textured Ni(0 0 1) substrate using synchrotron X-ray scattering. We find the existence of an epitaxial Pd-Ni interlayer between the epitaxial Pd layer and the Ni substrate.

Micromechanical investigations of the remarkable damage tolerance in tooth-enamel of Hadrosaurid dinosaurs

open access: yes, 2022
Overview: The principal objective of this research is to understand the biomechanical form, function, and structure of the enamel (a ceramic-like composite) known as aprismatic coarse wavy enamel (CWE) in the grinding dentition of large herbivores ...

Effect of Coloring Beverages on Color Stability of Single Shade Restorative Material: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesOpen Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2022
BACKGROUND: Color mismatch between tooth structure and restoration is a common reason for restoration replacement. This is due, in part, to the diverse chemical structure of both substrates, which display a different staining potential resulting in a ...

Short dental implants in the posterior region : the effect of platform-switching and a nanorough surface on peri-implant bone loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Korte implantaten (10 mm lengte), waarvoor meerdere redenen bestaan. In de eerste plaats heeft een kort implantaat minder oppervlak beschikbaar voor contact tussen bot en implantaat dan een langer implantaat met eenzelfde diameter.
