Topological origin of the protein folding transition
In this paper, a geometrical and thermodynamical analysis of the global properties of the potential energy landscape of a minimalistic model of a polypeptide is presented. The global geometry of the potential energy landscape is supposed to contain relevant information about the properties of a given sequence of amino acids, that is, to discriminate ...

Topological Metal-Insulator Transition in Narrow Graphene Nanoribbons?
We show that very narrow armchair graphene nanoribbons (AGNRs) of length L and width of 2 zigzag-rings undergo a metal-insulator-like transition at a critical length of 10nm, where the energy gap drops rather abruptly, and the conductivity, estimated ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Nematic phase transitions in two-dimensional systems
Simulations of nematic-isotropic transition of liquid crystals in two dimensions are performed using an O(2) vector model characterized by non linear nearest neighbour spin interaction governed by the fourth Legendre polynomial P4.

Superuniversality from disorder at two-dimensional topological phase transitions
We investigate the effects of quenched randomness on topological quantum phase transitions in strongly interacting two-dimensional systems. We focus first on transitions driven by the condensation of a subset of fractionalized quasiparticles (“anyons ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Topological interpretation of extremal and Davies-type phase transitions of black holes
Topological arguments are currently being used as a novel scheme to discern the properties of black holes while ignoring their detailed structure and specific field equations.
