The phase transitions between Zn×Zn bosonic topological phases in 1+1D, and a constraint on the central charge for the critical points between bosonic symmetry protected topological phases

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2017
The study of continuous phase transitions triggered by spontaneous symmetry breaking has brought revolutionary ideas to physics. Recently, through the discovery of symmetry protected topological phases, it is realized that continuous quantum phase ...

Real space renormalization of Majorana fermions in quantum nano-wire superconductors

open access: yes, 2017
We have applied the real space quantum renormalization group approach to study the topological quantum phase transition in the one-dimensional chain of a spinless p-wave superconductor.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Systematic study on stanene bulk states and the edge states of its zigzag nanoribbon

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2017
Stanene, as a counterpart of graphene, but with much larger spin–orbit coupling (SOC) strength, has recently been synthesized experimentally. Based on first principle calculations and an effective model, we systematically study the electronic and ...

Increasing the number of topological nodal lines in semimetals via uniaxial pressure

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The application of pressure has been demonstrated to induce intriguing phase transitions in topological nodal-line semimetals. In this work we analyze how uniaxial pressure affects the topological character of BaSn $$_2$$ 2 , a Dirac nodal-line semimetal

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Transport signatures of topological phases in double nanowires probed by spin-polarized STM

open access: yes, 2020
We study a double-nanowire setup proximity coupled to an $s$-wave superconductor and search for the bulk signatures of the topological phase transition that can be observed experimentally, for example, with an STM tip.

ANDERSON TRANSITIONS: CRITICALITY, SYMMETRIES AND TOPOLOGIES [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2010
The physics of Anderson transitions between localized and metallic phases in disordered systems is reviewed. We focus on the character of criticality as well as on underlying symmetries and topologies that are crucial for understanding phase diagrams and the critical behavior.

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Topological state transitions in electromagnetic topological defects

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract The recent emergence of electromagnetic topological defects has attracted wide interest in fields from topological photonics to deep-subwavelength light-mater interactions. Previously, much of the research has focused on constructing specific topological defects but the fundamental theory describing the physical mechanisms underlying ...
