Sensorless torque estimation in multidegree-of-freedom flexible systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper presents a sensorless torque estimation algorithm for multidegree-of-freedom flexible systems. The proposed algorithm makes it possible to estimate externally applied torques due to flexible system s interaction with the environment without ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

SAW torque transducers for disturbance rejection and tracking control of multi-inertia servo-drive systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The paper proposes a resonance ratio control (RRC) technique for the coordinated motion control of multi-inertia mechanical systems, based on the measurement of shaft torque via a SAW-based torque sensor. Furthermore, a new controller structure, RRC plus

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Magnetic switching by spin torque from the spin Hall effect

open access: yes, 2011
The spin Hall effect (SHE) generates spin currents within nonmagnetic materials. Previously, studies of the SHE have been motivated primarily to understand its fundamental origin and magnitude. Here we demonstrate, using measurement and modeling, that in

Nanomechanical detection of the spin Hall effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The spin Hall effect creates a spin current in response to a charge current in a material that has strong spin-orbit coupling. The size of the spin Hall effect in many materials is disputed, requiring independent measurements of the effect.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Investigation of dynamic behavior of planet gears in planetary gear sets for three-axis driving

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2016
Planetary gear set is widely used in hybrid vehicle as a power distribution system or in electric vehicle as a high reduction system. Although it has many advantages, its noise and vibration problem has emerged.
