A Novel Model Predictive Control for Switched Reluctance Motors Based on Torque Sharing Functions
2021 6th International Conference on Automation, Control and Robotics Engineering (CACRE), 2021This paper reports on an improved control strategy for switched reluctance motors(SRMs) to reduce the torque ripple using a torque sharing function(TSF) and model predictive control(MPC) strategy. A improved MPC strategy is applied in the phase current controller to implement accurate tracking of the phase current.

Applications of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) are limited due to their high torque ripple that caused by the doubly salient motor structure and unbalanced electromagnetic torque. In this paper, two methods are presented to eliminate the torque ripple, including direct torque control (DTC) method and torque sharing function (TSF) strategy.

Two improved torque-sharing functions for implementing torque ripple minimization (TRM) control are presented in this paper. The proposed torque-sharing functions are dependent on the turn-on angle, overlap angle, and the expected torque. This study shows that for a given torque the turn-on angle and the overlap angle have significant effects upon ...

This manuscript proposes an improved indirect instantaneous torque control (IITC) based torque sharing function (TSF) method of switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives in electric vehicles (EVs) using a hybrid system. The proposed hybrid techniques are joint performance of both Reptile Search Algorithm (RSA) and Honey Badger Algorithm (HBA), hence it is

Torque Sharing Function Control of Switched Reluctance Machines Without Phase Current Sensors
2018 21st International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2018This paper focuses on the Torque Sharing Function (TSF) control of Switched Reluctance Machines (SRMs) with a different current sensor placement for reducing the number of the used current sensors. A new converter connection with proposed current sensor placement is presented.

This paper presents a new control scheme to implement the torque ripple minimization in switched reluctance motor drives. The proposed scheme uses the nonlinear torque sharing function in which two active phases contribute the torque during phase commutation and the torque at other time is produced by an active phase.

The major disadvantage of Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs) is their high torque ripples which limits their suitability to high performance Adjustable Speed Motor Drive (ASMD) applications. Various Instantaneous Torque Control (ITC) schemes have been developed to mitigate the SRM torque ripples.
