Multiple-electron losses of highly charged ions colliding with neutral atoms

open access: yes, 2012
We present calculations of the total and m-fold electron-loss cross sections using the DEPOSIT code for highly charged U(q+) ions (q=10,31,33) colliding with Ne and Ar targets at projectile energies E=1.4 and 3.5 MeV/u.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Total and Double Differential Scattering Cross-Section Measurements of Isotropic Graphite [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The total and double differential scattering cross sections (DDSCS) of isotropic graphite have been measured in the J-PARC Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility using five samples with different porosities and grain sizes.

Infrared Gluon Resummation and pp total cross-sections

open access: yes, 2014
We address here the problem of describing both the total and the elastic proton-proton cross-section, through the four outstanding features of hadron scattering: (i) the optical point; (ii) the forward peak, (iii) the dip and (iv) the subsequent descent ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Total cross section and luminosity

open access: yesEPJ direct, 2002
The measurement of the total cross section and of the machine luminosity is the first objective of the experiment TOTEM [1] [2]. The total cross section will be measured with the luminosity independent method based on the simultaneous measurement of low momentum transfer elastic scattering and of the rate of inelastic interactions with fully inclusive ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Measurements of the elastic, inelastic and total pp cross sections with the ATLAS, CMS and TOTEM detectors

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
The elastic (σel), inelastic (σinel), and total (σtot) cross sections are related through the diσerential elastic cross section using the optical theorem. ATLAS and TOTEM have used forward detectors to measure the elastic scattering at √s = 8 TeV.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...
