Total Focusing Method Based Ultrasonic Phased Array Imaging in Thick Structures [PDF]
Abstract Ultrasonic non-destructive testing traditionally uses a conventional monolithic transducer. An approach similar to this comprising of independent single transmissions but with reception performed by all the elements in phased array ultrasonics is known as Full Matrix Capture (FMC).

High-Density Polyethylene Pipe Butt-Fusion Joint Detection via Total Focusing Method and Spatiotemporal Singular Value Decomposition [PDF]
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes are widely used for urban natural gas transportation. Pipes are usually welded using the technique of thermal butt fusion, which is prone to manufacturing defects that are detrimental to safe operation.

Total Focusing Method for Imaging Defect in CFRP Composite with Anisotropy and Inhomogeneity [PDF]
Fiber reinforced polymers (FRPs) are increasingly used in thick primary load-bearing structures, while manufacturing and in-service defects occur with a higher chance as the composite thickness increases, which entails the nondestructive detection and ...

Multi-Mode Total Focusing Method (MTFM) to Detect High-Temperature Hydrogen Attack (HTHA) – A Review
High temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA) is a commonly observed harm component in carbon steels exposed to high temperature and pressure in a hydrogen-rich environment. Hydrogen together with carbon responds to produce methane.

Surface imaging using total focusing method on surface waves for non destructive testing
We demonstrate the effectiveness of total focusing methods (TFM) using Rayleigh waves for surface and subsurface nondestructive inspection of different metals. The relatively low velocity of Rayleigh waves leads to sub-100 μm resolution imaging, with a penetration depth approximately equal to its wavelength.
