Total focusing method with correlation processing of antenna array signals

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
The article proposes a method of preliminary correlation processing of a complete set of antenna array signals used in the image reconstruction algorithm. The results of experimental studies of 3D reconstruction of various reflectors using and without correlation processing are presented in the article.

Application of Golay-based total focusing method using a high-frequency, lead-free, flexible ultrasonic array for inspection of thick non-planar industrial components

open access: yesNDT & E International
The compromise between axial resolution and penetration depth in ultrasound imaging poses a challenge for high-frequency ultrasonic arrays, limiting their ability to effectively inspect thick components in industrial applications.

High-Density Polyethylene Pipe Butt-Fusion Joint Detection via Total Focusing Method and Spatiotemporal Singular Value Decomposition

open access: yesProcesses
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes are widely used for urban natural gas transportation. Pipes are usually welded using the technique of thermal butt fusion, which is prone to manufacturing defects that are detrimental to safe operation.

Characterisation of small embedded two-dimensional defects using multi-view Total Focusing Method imaging algorithm

open access: yesNDT & E international, 2021
Defect characterisation is an essential step of nondestructive testing which aims to determine the shape and the size of a defect once detected. The imaging algorithm multi-view Total Focusing Method (TFM) has been successfully used to accurately size ...

Stage 1 Round-Robin Report: On the Use of Total Focusing Method for Sizing Flaws in Assessing Probability of Detection

open access: yese-Journal of Nondestructive Testing, 2023
Reliability of non-destructive (NDT) procedures is usually assessed using probability of detection (POD). However, the reliability of the POD is rarely questioned. A POD usually produces a curve that relates the size of a defect to the likelihood that

Surface Imaging Using Total Focusing Method on Surface Waves for Non Destructive Testing

open access: yesNDT & E International, 2023
We demonstrate the effectiveness of total focusing methods (TFM) using Rayleigh waves for surface and subsurface nondestructive inspection of different metals. The relatively low velocity of Rayleigh waves leads to sub-100 μm resolution imaging, with a penetration depth approximately equal to its wavelength.

Adaptive total focusing method for ultrasonic full-matrix imaging of anisotropic CFRP laminates

open access: yesJournal of Physics, Conference Series
The application of total focusing method (TFM) for imaging of Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) with ultrasonic phased array is particularly challenging due to the layered structure and anisotropy of CFRP.

Self-adaptive transcranial ultrasound imaging using an effective skull model: experimental evaluation on a human skull at 3.15 MHz

open access: yesActa Acustica
Introduction. Transcranial ultrasound imaging is hindered by skull-induced aberrations that degrade focusing and image contrast. Existing correction methods typically rely on external imaging or detailed acoustic models, limiting their applicability in ...
