Cottonseed meal (CSM) and rapeseed meal (RSM) are protein sources in livestock feed. However, the applications of both ingredients are limited in diets due to the existence of anti-nutritional factors such as free gossypol and glucosinolate.

Design and Testing of Segmented Spiral Total Mix Ration Mixer
To address the challenges of non-uniform mixing in total mixed diet forage and the high power consumption of the required device, we developed a segmented spiral total mixed diet device. This development involved theoretical analysis to determine the structural parameters of the main body of the segmented spiral blades, the churn, and the creation of a

In vitro gas production of five rations of different maize silage and concentrate ratios influenced by increasing levels of chemically characterized extract of Salix babylonica [PDF]
Salix babylonica (SB) is a tree of the willow family with slender leaves, native to dry areas of northern China. Trees of SB are commonly found along moist places and are often planted or cultivated as an ornamental tree. SB often cultivated to make high-

In a Nutshell: Total Mixed Ration Silage
Total mixed rations (TMR) are produced by combining forages, by-products, concentrates, minerals, vitamins, and additives. Animals consume the nutrients required to meet the needs of maintenance and production from this mixture. Ensiling TMR is a long-established process. The ruminant production industry has shown a growing interest in TMR silage.

Lactobacillus mixtipabuli sp. nov. isolated from total mixed ration silage
Using a polyphasic taxonomic approach, we investigated three bacterial strains – IWT30T, IWT8 and IWT75 – isolated from total mixed ration silage prepared in Hachimantai, Iwate, Japan. The isolates comprised Gram-stain positive, non-motile, non-spore-forming, catalase-negative, rod-shaped bacteria.

Use of peas in organic buffalo farming: effects on nutrient digestibility and milk production [PDF]
Twenty lactating buffalo cows, organically farmed, were used to examine the effects of including peas in total mixed ration. Two concentrates were formulated to contain, as the main protein sources, either 350 g/kg of soybean cake (CC) or 450 g/kg of ...
