Total Synthesis of the Phenolic Steroid Myrmenaphthol A

Organic Letters, 2022
Myrmenaphthol A is a structurally unique phenolic steroid with a naphthyl AB-ring system and an unusual C2 hydroxy group. Herein, we report the first total synthesis of this natural product in 10 steps from inexpensive, commercially available sitolactone.

Antioxidant Activity, Total Phenol, and Total Flavonoid of Syzygium Polyanthum

2021 IEEE International Conference on Health, Instrumentation & Measurement, and Natural Sciences (InHeNce), 2021
Free radicals are molecules that have an unpaired electron in their outer orbital so they are highly reactive. Antioxidants (free radical scavenging compounds) are substances that can neutralize free radicals, or materials that function to prevent the body's biological systems from being oxidized excessively.

Condensed Tannins and Total Phenols in Stylosanthes Spp.

XXV International Grassland Congress (IGC 2023), 2023
Rangelands, such as the species of the genus Stylosanthes, are plants highly selected by animals and represent an important forage source for livestock in the Northeast region of Brazil. Plants of this genus are naturally occurring in several places in Brazil and other semi-arid areas. The variability of condensed tannins and total phenols in different

Automated Determination of Total Phenol in Urine

American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1972
A fully automated method has been developed to determine total phenol in urine. Results agree well with the accepted manual method. In this automated method, samples are run at the rate of ten per hour. Only 1 to 2 ml of sample is needed. In 1 man-day, forty samples can be analyzed.

Stereoselective Total Synthesis of Phenolic Nonadecanediol

Helvetica Chimica Acta, 2014
AbstractA simple and highly efficient synthetic route has been developed for synthesis of 1‐(4‐hydroxyphenyl)nonadecane‐3,5‐diol (1). The two stereogenic centers were generated by employing proline asymmetric α‐hydroxylation (MacMillan α‐hydroxylation), Jacobsen's hydrolytic kinetic resolution (HKR), and, finally, Yamaguchi oxirane opening as key steps

Total Phenolics and Phenolic Acids in Plants and Soils

2007
During allelopathic investigations of interrelationships among different plant species in their natural sites, special attention is paid to the presence of phenolic acids (PAs) in dominant plants, plant litter and in the soil. They are localized in all plant organs, both as free and in bound forms i.e.

An improved method for determining total urinary phenol

Journal of Chromatography A, 1978
A simple and easily manipulated method is described for th- determination of total urinary phenol. This modification of earlier procedures incorporates the enzymatic hydrolysis of conjugated phenol, extraction of the hydrolysis products into isopropyl ether and final quantitation by gas-liquid chromatography-flame ionization detection.

Relationship between Red Wine Grades and Phenolics. 1. Tannin and Total Phenolics Concentrations

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2010
Measuring chemical composition is a common approach to support decisions about allocating foods and beverages to grades related to market value. Red wine is a particularly complex beverage, and multiple compositional attributes are needed to account for its sensory properties, including measurement of key phenolic components such as anthocyanins, total

Total phenols in enriched biscuits

2006
Biscuits are cereal based food widely consumed by all populations and therefore appropriate to be “ carrier” for different health protecting compounds. Due to well documented beneficial effects of high intake of fibres, confectionery industry offers new types of biscuits enriched with fibres of different origin.
