Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

AbstractThis unit describes three copper‐based assays to quantitate total protein: the biuret method, a variation of the Lowry method (Hartree‐Lowry method), and the bicinchoninic acid (BCA) assay. Acid hydrolysis of a protein is coupled with ninhydrin detection to quantitate amino acid content of a sample.

The Total Protein of Human Perilymph
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1969Total protein values were determined from the perilymph of 47 cadaver ears. After subtraction of hemoglobin the average total protein for two series of 27 and 10 ears was 553 and 559 mg%, respectively. When the perilymph specimens were taken directly without freezing the average total protein figures were reduced to 280 (cochlea) or 312 mg% (vesti ...

Relationship of Serum Total Calcium to Albumin and Total Protein in Dogs
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1982SUMMARY A positive linear relationship was found between total calcium and albumin and between total calcium and total protein in the serum of 209 dogs. Total calcium concentration correlated with the concentration of albumin (r=0.575; P<0.001) and with the concentration of total protein (r= 0.411; P<0.001).
