Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Pansharpening using total variation regularization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceIn remote sensing, pansharpening refers to the technique that combines the complementary spectral and spatial resolution characteristics of a multispectral image and a panchromatic image, with the objective to generate a high ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A new inequality for the Riemann-Stieltjes integrals driven by irregular signals in Banach spaces

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2018
We prove an inequality of the Loéve-Young type for the Riemann-Stieltjes integrals driven by irregular signals attaining their values in Banach spaces, and, as a result, we derive a new theorem on the existence of the Riemann-Stieltjes integrals driven ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Semisoft Generalized Total Variation Minimization for Image Reconstruction in Computed Tomography

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
The generalized l1 greedy algorithm was recently proposed and shown to outperform the standard reweighted l1-minimization and l1-greedy algorithms for image reconstruction in computed tomography (CT).

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Rate of convergence of Stancu beta operators for functions of bounded variation

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2004
In this paper we study beta operators of second kind recently introduced by Prof. D. D. Stancu. We obtain an estimate on the rate of convergence for functions of bounded variation by means of the decomposition technique.

Variational Destriping in Remote Sensing Imagery: Total Variation with L1 Fidelity

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
This paper introduces a variational method for destriping data acquired by pushbroom-type satellite imaging systems. The model leverages sparsity in signals and is based on current research in sparse optimization and compressed sensing.
